🧪 INGREDIENT BREAKDOWN 🧪
🌱 SCI NOODLES – SCI is a solid, gentle sulfate-free surfactant made from coconut oil. We use the noodle form of SCI which remains visible in the final product. With a pH around 4.6-6.5, SCI is a perfect surfactant for use in a hair product.
🌱 SLSA – SLSA is a solid, gentle sulfate-free surfactant derived from coconut and palm oils. With a pH around 5-7.5, SLSA combines well with SCI as co-surfactants for use in hair products.
🌱 COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE – CAPB is a sulfate-free liquid surfactant made from coconut oil. It is very mild and acts as a skin and hair conditioner leaving behind soft hair and a moisturized feeling after rinsing. With a pH around 5-6, CAPB is a perfect surfactant for hair.
🌱 COCONUT OIL – Coconut Oil has a high concentration (about 48%) of lauric acid which makes it great for hair products. It’s proven to promote faster hair growth, detangle unruly hair, and provide a moisturizing base for hair.
🌱 KAOLIN CLAY – This naturally occurring clay helps to hold the bar together while keeping the pH in the optimum range for hair.
🌱 EMULSIFYING WAX – E-waxes prevent separation of the oil phase and the water phase of shampoo bars, so they are able to have both nourishing (oil phase) and hydrating (water phase) properties.
🌱 CETYL ALCOHOL – This is a naturally occurring waxy compound that helps thicken and solidify the shampoo bar
🌱 PROPYLENE GLYCOL, DIAZOLIDINYL UREA, IODOPROPYNYL BUTYLCARBAMATE – Oil-containing products that are constantly wet or stored in a humid environment like a shower MUST have a preservative, because bad little microbes like bacteria and mold love those nourishing fats and oils just as much as our skin. Without a preservative, EVERY shampoo bar will risk unsafe microbial growth within a few days. Although they are beneficial for other reasons, antioxidants like Vitamin E and Vitamin C do not serve the same function as a preservative. This formulation uses Germall Plus (listed as “Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate”) as the preservative.
🌱 FRAGRANCE – All fragrances that we use in our lotions and creams are phthalate free.
🌱 PIGMENTS AND COLORING AGENTS – Small amounts of coloring agenting are added to help distinguish the fragrances by color. Dyes and lakes are listed as a color followed by a number. Mica-based colorants will have mica listed. Oxide compounds (titanium dioxide, iron oxide, etc.) are nature-identical colorants. In some cases, non-coloring agents (such as rose clay or green clay) will result in significant coloration.
