🧪 INGREDIENT BREAKDOWN 🧪
🌱 BTMS-25 – BTMS-25 is a mixture of Behentrimonium Methosulfate and Cetearyl Alcohol. Behentrimonium Methosulfate is a plant-derived cationic quaternary ammonium compounds. In other words, a plant in the cabbage family is used to make colza oil which is used to make the heavy lifter of the conditioner bar. Together with cetearyl alcohol, this is the emulsifying wax of the bar and helps to get the nourishing oils of the bar to play nicely with the water in your shower.
🌱 CETYL ALCOHOL – This is a naturally occurring waxy compound that helps thicken and solidify the conditioner bar.
🌱 COCONUT OIL – Coconut oil melts at 76F into a nice slippery emollient that can penetrate the hair down to the cortex to help prevent protein loss and increase the pliability of the hair.
🌱 SHEA BUTTER – Shea butter is highly regarded as an exceptional moisturizing product for skin. In haircare, the vitamins and fatty acids can help to nourish the hair. In addition, shea butter can help to sooth and moisturize the scalp to minimize dry and flaky skin.
🌱 CASTOR OIL – Castor oil provides essential proteins and nutrients to hair follicles and can help prevent hair follicle inflammation. In addition, it can increase the gloss or shine of the hair and increased hair shaft flexibility.
🌱 JOJOBA OIL – Jojoba oil is rich in vitamins and minerals that nourish hair such as vitamin C, the B complex vitamins, vitamin E, copper, and zinc.
🌱 HYDROLYZED WHEAT PROTEIN – Protein hydrolysis breaks proteins down into more usable parts like amino acids. Free amino acids are better able to penetrate into the upper layers of the skin as well as through the hair cuticle into the hair shaft. Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein offers a combination of moisture-balancing and film-forming properties that work together to give hair better body and control.
🌱 HONEYQUAT – Honeyquat is a naturally derived conditioning agent made from honey and has excellent moisture-binding properties. It is able to penetrate hair and provide moisturizing benefits over time while providing shine and luster. It also improves the wet-combability of hair and reduces static buildup when dry combing.
🌱 PANTHENOL – Panthenol is the usable analogue of Vitamin B5 that can be absorbed and processed into pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5) by our bodies and has been demonstrated to reduce skin inflammation and increase the diameter of hair.
🌱 DIMETHICONE/CYCLOMETHICONE – The methicones work together to improve wet and dry combing, improve hair shine and softness, reduces static charge, and resist humidity.
🌱 VEGETABLE GLYCERIN – Glycerin serves as a humectant helping to draw water in to nourish dry skin and hair.
🌱 TOCOPHEROL – Natural Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant to improve the longevity of the product and provide your skin and hair with necessary vitamins.
🌱 FRAGRANCE – All fragrances that we use in our conditioner bars are phthalate free.
🌱 PIGMENTS AND COLORING AGENTS – Small amounts of coloring agenting are added to help distinguish the fragrances by color. Dyes and lakes are listed as a color followed by a number. Mica-based colorants will have mica listed. Oxide compounds (titanium dioxide, iron oxide, etc.) are nature-identical colorants. In some cases, non-coloring agents (such as rose clay or green clay) will result in significant coloration.
🌱 PROPYLENE GLYCOL, DIAZOLIDINYL UREA, IODOPROPYNYL BUTYLCARBAMATE – Oil-containing products that are constantly wet or stored in a humid environment like a shower MUST have a preservative, because bad little microbes like bacteria and mold love those nourishing fats and oils just as much as our skin. Without a preservative, EVERY conditioner bar will risk unsafe microbial growth. Although they are beneficial for other reasons, antioxidants like Vitamin E and Vitamin C do not serve the same function as a preservative. This formulation uses Germall Plus (listed as “Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate”) as the preservative.
